COMESA Free Trade Area
The COMESA Free Trade Area, launched in October 2000 with Egypt as a founding member, gives duty-free access between participating states in eastern and southern Africa. Egypt, Libya and Sudan take part, and Tunisia started trading under it in March 2020.
What you get
- Duty-free access to COMESA FTA markets
Originating goods enter the other participating COMESA markets without import duties.

Participants include Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius and others, giving North African factories preferential markets beyond the Arab region.
